Newsletters and folders are coming home a day early this week so that I can send you information about our Hop - a - thon on Friday. Please read the material enclosed and help support this worthy cause. Speaking for myself, I am blessed with two healthy children and I can not begin to imagine the obstacles these parents must endure everyday. A few dollars can go such a long way. Let’s do what we can to help others. The children seem to be excited about our hop - a - thon. Today we read about Travis who is in a wheelchair. Ask them about it and let them share their excitement with you.
Don’t forget to sign up for our summer program. I have extra registration forms if you need one.
Also, send your letters of intent for next year. These went home with report cards but if you need another one just let me know.
Don’t forget our Cartridges For Kids contest. We will be accepting ink cartridges, old cell phones, video games, etc. until April 18th.
This week we are learning…. Letter & sound Vv
Identifying numbers 0-15
Counting 1-30

Easter Party
Here comes Peter Cottontail hoppin down the bunny trail….
Our Easter Party will be Thursday, March 20th beginning at 11:00. We will go outside and hunt eggs (weather permitting). Then return and eat lunch and Easter treats. I will bring cupcakes and drinks. The children will still need to bring their lunch that day. Ms. Hunter and I have bought Easter buckets for each of the children and I have the eggs. All I need from my parents is goodies to fill our eggs. Please send 1 bag of candy or other treat (erasers, stickers, etc.) that will fit inside our eggs. I need these by next WEDNESDAY, March 19th.
Our 4th nine week period begins this week. We will go to computer for our elective. Ms. Tutt is wonderful and I know the children will love her class.
Starting Monday the PTA along with Cartridges for Kids will hold a cartridge contest for the elementary classes. The contest will run until April 18th. They will collect ink cartridges, old cell phones, pagers, dvds, video games, etc. Look for more information to come home with report cards.
Remember, spring break will begin next Friday, March 21st and we will return on Monday, March 31st. Also, report cards will go home on Thursday, March 20th. Please sign and return as soon as possible when we return from spring break.

Folders

January 15,2008
Everyone is getting a new "bring home folder" this week. Please empty these and PLEASE, PLEASE read the newsletters and any other correspondence that comes home. This is the best way to keep up with what is going on. The folders will be sent home on Tuesdays, please empty them and send them back no later than Friday of the same week.
Please checkout our new schedule for this nine weeks. It is on the board outside of our room. The big change is that we are now having snack at 9:00 instead of 9:30. Just keep this in mind if you have to bring their snack, it needs to be here by 9:00.
Inside each folder I have put an index card with their name on it. FOR HOMEWORK: please write your child's FULL NAME, FULL ADDRESS AND PHONE NUMBER. Please have these back to me no later than Friday, January 18th.
In the coming weeks and months we will be working very hard on learning our first name, middle name (when applicable) and last name, understanding the concept of what "first," "middle" and "last" names really mean. My goal is that if your child is lost or seperated from you, your child will have the skills needed to help someone find you. Also, on this card list YOUR first and last name. If your child lives with both parents, please list your spouse's first and last name as well.
Pretend you do not know your child, ask them to tell you their first, middle and last name. Can you understand them easily? If not, then we need to work on slowing them down and getting them to pronounce their names slowly and articulately. This also brings me to another point, ask your child to say or sing the alphabet. We are working on slowing down and pronouncing each letter correctly. Especially letters Ll, Mm, Nn, Oo, Pp.
Also, I am going to change their flashcards a little. I have noticed during my evaluations if I put another name or word that begins with the same first letter as their name, they identify it as their name. They are working off of the first letter not the entire name.
This week we are learning: Letter Ll
Number 12
Counting 0-15
Same and Different
Review of shapes & colors
